I thought my food rules were seemingly harmless and nothing more than a healthy obsession! Yet, some days I crave and binge. Oh, my extremes and guilt! I am a Dietitian, I should be eating healthily.. At one point, I disliked my uncontrollable habits, I disliked the changes it made to my body, and I strongly disliked myself.
It wasn't till I went to therapy and it started to be apparent to me: nutrition, relationship with food, mental health and wellbeing are interactive and complementary.
Add on what some of us women have to cope with - PMOS, endometriosis, PMDD, perimenopause or menopause, modern-day stress, raising children, caregiving for aging parents and social pressures to 'look beautiful' effortlessly or at least look like you're not withering away.
Whether you are a mum, a caregiver, single (or all these together!), as women we should support each other to put ourselves first. I am biased but a good place to start is by taking care of your nutrition.
